Editorial Card
The editorial card block is designed for visually rich editorial moments inside collection grid rows. Each card supports either a static image or an autoplaying looped video, a configurable title with a full range of heading sizes, and an optional link. Cards can span multiple grid columns to create asymmetric layouts – a single-column card gets a portrait crop while a multi-column card shifts to a landscape aspect ratio.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title | Text displayed below the media. |
| Link URL | Makes the card clickable. The link wraps both the media area and the title. |
| Title size | Controls the heading scale, from 2XS up to Display. Defaults to XS. |
| Column span | How many grid columns the card occupies on desktop (1 to 3). Wider spans switch to a landscape crop. |
| Media type | Toggles between image and video. Video-specific fields appear only when video is selected. |
| Image | The card image. Also used as a video poster fallback when no dedicated poster is set. |
| Video | A Shopify-hosted video that autoplays, loops, and is muted. |
| Video poster image | A still frame shown while the video loads. Falls back to the image field if blank. |
Used in
Section titled “Used in”- Use column span 2 or 3 for hero-style editorial moments and span 1 for smaller accent cards alongside product tiles.
- The aspect ratio changes automatically with column span: portrait (roughly 3:4) for single-column, landscape (roughly 3:2) for multi-column.
- When using video, the image field doubles as a poster fallback, so it is still worth setting even for video cards.
- Title size gives you fine-grained control – pair larger sizes with wider spans and smaller sizes with single-column cards for visual hierarchy.
