YouTube Video
The YouTube video block renders a clickable thumbnail card for a YouTube video. Rather than embedding the player directly on the page, it shows a thumbnail (either auto-fetched from YouTube or a custom upload) with a play button overlay. When clicked, it triggers a lightbox or inline player via an Alpine.js openVideo action. The block supports two layout modes – primary (large, full-width thumbnail with title below) and playlist (compact row with small thumbnail).

Used in
Section titled “Used in”- Custom thumbnails are strongly recommended for visual consistency – YouTube’s auto-generated thumbnails vary in quality and framing.
- The block extracts the video ID from the URL automatically, so both full YouTube URLs and shortened youtu.be links work.
- The play button overlay is an inline SVG that scales with the thumbnail, keeping the click target clearly visible at any size.
