Metafields

Metafields are where the real content lives in this theme. Products, collections, articles, and pages all carry structured data — feature steps, FAQ clusters, comparison specs, recipe ingredients — that sections and blocks pull in at render time. Most of these metafields point to metaobjects, which means the same content (say, an FAQ cluster) can be maintained once and surfaced on multiple pages via dynamic source.

The primary namespace is nama. You will also encounter custom and custom_fields on older resources — these are legacy namespaces carried over from earlier tooling and will be migrated over time.

These live on individual products and power most of the PDP sections. On product pages, sections connect to them through dynamic source, so one metaobject entry can serve every product that references it.

Article metafields are concentrated on recipes. Every recipe article carries structured data — ingredients, directions, yield, prep time — that powers both the recipe card display and the JSON-LD recipe schema for search engines.

All article metafields live in the custom namespace.

Pages carry minimal metafield data. The main use case is the tag line that appears in the left column of the two-column page layout.

Most metafields in the nama namespace point to metaobjects. This is by design. Sections on the PDP connect to these metafields through Shopify’s dynamic source mechanism, which means:

  • The section schema declares a metaobject picker or metaobject list setting.
  • In the theme customizer, you connect that setting to the product metafield via dynamic source.
  • Shopify resolves the metaobject for whatever product is being viewed.

This pattern keeps content centralized. An FAQ cluster, a feature steps section, or a social slides collection is authored once as a metaobject entry and linked to as many products as needed. When you update the metaobject, every product that references it picks up the change.

The same pattern applies to collections — collection_editorials, collection_faqs, collection_filter_set, and collection_featured_articles all connect through dynamic source so each collection can carry its own content without duplicating section configuration.
