Data Model

The Nama theme relies heavily on Shopify’s structured data features to keep content maintainable and reusable across pages. Rather than hardcoding content into templates, most sections pull their data from three systems:

  • Metaobjects — reusable content records (FAQ clusters, feature steps, social slides, editorial cards) that are created once and connected to as many pages as needed.
  • Metafields — per-resource fields on products, collections, articles, and pages that connect metaobjects, store display overrides, and hold structured recipe data.
  • Clusters — the parent→child metaobject pattern that drives most section content. A cluster is a parent metaobject holding a list of children, connected via dynamic source. Sections auto-hide when no data is connected.
  • Tags — prefixed tags on articles and products that drive filtering, categorization, and display labels across blogs and collections.

A typical flow on a product page:

  1. The product has a metafield nama.product_faqs pointing to a faq_group metaobject.
  2. The FAQs section reads that metaobject via dynamic source and renders the questions.
  3. No per-product template setup is needed — the section auto-hides when no metaobject is connected.

A typical flow on a blog listing:

  1. Articles are tagged with prefixed tags like type_juice or topic_juicing.
  2. The Blog Listing section reads those tags for filtering.
  3. Each tag’s display label and colour come from a blog_category metaobject looked up by handle.

This pattern — tags for filtering, metaobjects for display data, metafields for connections — repeats throughout the theme.
